Join CAIC at its Membership Luncheon on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. for a presentation by Erik Varela, Director of the International Port District. Mr. Varela will speak about the happenings of the Port, major capital projects, and the new master plan.
Erik Varela has served as the Executive Director of the Illinois International Port Authority since September 2021. Before being named Executive Director, Mr. Varela most recently served as Senior Director of Public Affairs for Union Pacific Railroad. Before Union Pacific, Erik worked for fifteen years at various local government levels and was a small business owner and restaurant manager. Varela is also a graduate of the DePaul School of Law.
